Key Features of the Incubation Scheme

  • Up to ₹1 crore is given to Host Institutions (HI) for buying and setting up necessary plants, machines, hardware, and software in Business Incubators (BI) for R&D and shared facilities for startups.
  • Here, BI stands for Business Incubator, which is an organization that helps new businesses and startups grow by providing resources like space, mentorship, and business support.
  • Support is through government-approved business incubators, ensuring expert guidance at every step.
  • The scheme targets original, feasible, and market-ready ideas in products, processes, or services.

Eligibility Criteria for the Incubation Scheme

Eligibility

  • MSME registration in India is a must for applicants.
  • If you’re an individual or startup, your innovative idea should be original and commercially viable.
  • If you are a Technical Colleges, Universities, other Professional Colleges/Institutes, R&D Institutes, NGOs involved in incubation activities, MSME-DIs/ Technology Centres or any Institute/Organization of Central/State Government, you can register as a Host Institute (HI). As an HI, you can act as a Business Incubator (BI) to help new ideas grow from the concept stage to full commercialization.
  • Collaboration with a government-recognized business incubator is essential.
  • Willingness to participate in the incubation process and present your idea to a selection committee is expected.

Non-eligibility

You are not eligible if:

  • Your idea is already commercialized or in mass production.
  • You have received government grants for the same idea from other schemes.
  • Your proposal is not innovative or lacks technical feasibility.

  • Detailed project proposal or business plan
  • Aadhaar card or identity proof
  • PAN card
  • Bank account details
  • Letter of intent from the incubator (if available)
  • University affiliation certificate
  • AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) approval
  • National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) or another valid accreditation
  • Audited annual accounts with auditor’s report for the last two years
  • Any relevant technical documents or patents (if applicable)

Step 1: Visit the official MyScheme portal.

Step 3: Login and click on Apply for HI/BI Approval. Fill out the online application form for the Incubation Scheme.
