The Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) is a government initiative by the Ministry of MSME that’s designed to support traditional industries in India. If you're an artisan or run a small business, this scheme can help you grow by forming clusters with other businesses, upgrading your infrastructure, and providing you with essential resources like training, financial assistance, and marketing support.
In this Scheme:
India’s traditional industries like handlooms, handicrafts, khadi, coir, and village industries are a vital part of our economy and cultural heritage. However, these sectors often face challenges such as outdated technology, lack of market access, and limited resources. To address these issues and empower artisans and entrepreneurs, the Government of India launched the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI). Popularly known as the SFURTI Scheme or SFURTI Yojana, this initiative is managed by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) is a government program launched in 2005 with the goal of helping traditional industries and artisans to succeed. The scheme focuses on organizing businesses into clusters, making it easier for you to access modern technology, better infrastructure, and improved marketing opportunities. By joining a cluster, you’ll benefit from shared resources, specialized training, and collective bargaining power, all of which help make your business more sustainable and competitive in today’s market.
Cluster Development Approach
SFURTI focuses on bringing businesses and artisans like you together in clusters, creating a supportive network in your local area. By being part of a cluster, you can share resources and grow together.
Project Coverage
The scheme aims to cover over 800 clusters across all states in India, benefiting around 4 lakh artisans. Plus, 10% of these clusters will be set up in the North Eastern Region, J&K, and other hilly states, ensuring that no region is left behind and that development is spread out evenly.
Type of Clusters | Budget Limit Per Cluster |
Mini-Clusters (Up to 500 artisans) | Rs 1.50 crore |
Major Clusters (500-1000 artisans) | Rs 3.00 crore |
Heritage Clusters (1000-2500 artisans) | Rs 8.00 crore |
Project Duration
The project under SFURTI has been implemented over 3 years, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) outlining the yearly plan and fund requirements.
